What are you doing?!

You know, every now and then I see a new channel pop up and get massive popularity within a very short time. I feel like a bit of a conspiracy theorist because with underneath a thousand subscribers I will see channels get 17K views from one video with a very natural thumbnail, no background music, I don't know if they're buying ads or anything, they don't already have a following and just move them over and think “what the the hell is this person doing”. nothing that you would consider YouTuber in any way shape or form. And yet I still see these super small channels getting ridiculous view counts and can't help but Wonder not only what I am doing wrong but what are they doing to get such a high count?

I feel like a bit of a conspiracy theorist because there must be something they're doing other than just making helpful informative quality videos. And it's not just me. A good example of this is Hsin; he gets about the same amount of views that I do although I think he has more subscriptions and he does exactly what I do. He makes a video, he explains how to make the thing he is making, he has an intro, he has an outro, and that's the end of his video. He's kind of a pseudo teacher of YouTube and that he just wants to show you how to make a thing and for you to follow along. How in God's name are people with underneath a thousand subscriptions getting 17K views in the course of three days!?

the subscriber count never mattered to me that much. I've already gotten past what I thought I would achieve on YouTube in the first place. But it does kind of rattle my brain that I either don't understand the system fully or there's some kind of weird YouTuber secret that I haven't yet clutched.
