For a very long time I’ve been in love with glaze called Hyacinth. Had it a long time ago. This is it here
I am pretty sure this is a combo of either cobalt and rutile or manganese dioxide and rutile. Either way the brown has got to be rutile and I am playing around with the purple stuff ( especially with the little purple specks I am pretty sure it’s manganese dioxide. I have gotten really close with my own base. Here are my experiments so far trying to get
Here is the base I made and the pictures from top to bottom are
first pic - 4% Rutile with base recipe
Second pic- 4% Rutile + 1% Manganese dioxide with base recipe
Third pic- 4% Rutile + 2% Manganese dioxide with base recipe
Fourth picture - 4% Rutile + 2% Manganese dioxide with base recipe But with a back profile. keep in mind i double dip my test tiles from half way up. you can see this very clearly on the past picture.
The next test will probably be 5% and up with the same base and some rutile . If i have to ( I do not want to) I will probably put .25 - .5 cobalt to make a little more blue, but I think with a good sieve I can het this manganese dioxide to get very close to my own hyacinth.
