Guess I got a yellow now
I have never been the biggest fan of yellow but When Joe Thompson (a.k.a old forge) reworked a version of Tenmoku gold ( an old crystal type glaze with small yellow specks) I needed to test it. A small issue with Tenmoku gold is when you put it in a straight up and down coen 5 or 6 ox kiln it works great but when you out any type of hold on it it tends to do 1 of 2 things. #1 it either runs like hell, not too bad of an issue but it has alot of flux in it to don't over glaze it. Or #2, the gold's speck's do not show as much. Joe Thompson's version was without lithium and with more neph sy.
I mixed up the glaze, put them in the big kiln ( Redrix ) and the porcelain textured cup as well as the small test tile came out veeeryyy crystal…y….crystaleee? Crystal ish?…. Whatever it's more crystals. It's so many more crystals infact that the glaze comes out yellow most of the time.
